John Hallal

Throughout his business career, John has advised and counseled entrepreneurs and middle market companies with growth strategies, business development and in all phases of the merger and acquisition process. As a consultant, business owner and attorney, he has led health care, high technology, and internet deals, and has advised companies on formation, traditional and alternative financing options, recapitalizations and restructurings, and divestitures.

As an Adjunct Professor at Babson College F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business, John teaches Mergers &amp Acquisitions for Entrepreneurs. John also serves as a Mentor in Babson’s Venture Accelerator Program, advising businesses at the “launch and grow stage,” mentoring on operation plans, sales, and fundraising.

From 2003 to January 2005, John served as Vice President of Rehab Medical, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of continuous passive motion (CPM) devices used to rehabilitate joints after surgeries. At Rehab Medical, John helped expand its distribution channel and explored and eventually introduced new product lines to leverage the distribution channel. John led management in its sale of Rehab Medical to Otto Bock Healthcare, L.P. in January 2005.

John subsequently co-founded a durable medical equipment supply company, which provided a web-based, turnkey system, enabling orthopedic and podiatric practices to dispense an array of durable medical equipment directly to patients during office visits. The system also aided the practitioners with inventory control, insurance verification and billing services. He launched the company, assisted in raising several million dollars, and hired key employees. Recently, John co-founded a company selling retail products in an emerging and high growth market.

John gained substantial experience in the law from 1991-2003, where he practiced in Boston as an associate and then a partner. He is a member of Boston Harbor Angels (www.bostonharborangels.com) and an active angel investor. He has invested and taken advisory or board roles in many early stage companies.

John is a graduate of Bucknell University (1987) and Boston College Law School (1991). He served as a panelist for the MIT Enterprise Forum in Cambridge, a judge in Babson College’s B.E.T.A. Challenge, a panelist in MassMedic-sponsored events and in venture capital groups and associations. John is on the fundraising committee for the Lawrence (MA) Boys & Girls Club and is an active volunteer for St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption.

Fee Structures - Working with Clients to Create a “Win-Win”

Our first priority is to provide high quality legal services for reasonable fees. Our hourly rates are lower than large firms with comparable skills and experience. We deliver our services efficiently by limiting our practice areas and our overhead.

We render semi-monthly or monthly detailed statements for services in order to eliminate the element of surprise for both the client and the firm. We also entertain alternative fee arrangements (e.g., flat rates and partial or full contingency fees).
